THE EAST ALABAMA UPWARD LEAGUE IS A SPORTS MINISTRY EFFORT OF LOCAL CHURCHES IN THE BI-CITY AREA. OUR LEAGUE IS A GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADING LEAGUE. WE OPERATE FROM OCTOBER TO MID-FEBRUARY WITH REGISTRATION BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER. ESTABLISHED IN 1995, UPWARD SPORTS IS THE WORLD’S LARGEST CHRISTIAN YOUTH SPORTS PROVIDER. UPWARD SPORTS IS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION THAT OFFERS THE 360 PROGRESSION, A UNIQUELY DESIGNED TOTAL SPORTS EXPERIENCE THAT ADAPTS AND EXPANDS AS PLAYERS GROW IN THEIR PERSONAL ATHLETIC JOURNEYS. THE 360 PROGRESSION DEVELOPS TOTAL ATHLETES MENTALLY, ATHLETICALLY, SPIRITUALLY, AND SOCIALLY – PRODUCING PLAYERS WHO EXCEL BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD. EAUL IS LED BY A GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS. registration

Your one-time registration fee covers a high quality uniform, practices, games, equipment, insurance, and other misc expenses. Registration opens September 1st and runs about 4-6 weeks. All registration is online.

UNIFORM FITTING

When you register you will select sizes online. We have a webpage called "Uniform Sizing Guide" that lists out of uniform sizes. Basketball and Cheerleaders are welcome to stop by during evaluations to review their uniform size selections.

EVALUATIONS

Once registration closes, we host evaluations to measure skill levels of athletes. This information is used to assist us in drafting as balanced teams as possible. Our goal is to create competitive play during the season. All Basketball players must attend an evaluation or they may not be drafted.

PRACTICES

Our teams practice once a week. Practice nights are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night. Your team will be assigned a night and it will be the same night for the entire season unless a holiday is observed. Our older divisions may occasionally have an additional practice scheduled.

GAMES

Our teams typically play one game a week. Friday and Saturdays are reserved for games. If the opportunity presents itself games may be scheduled during the week.

PLAYOFFS

All Divisions excluding Pee-Wee will have a single elimination playoff at the end of the season.

FUNDRAISING

We do not have any fundraising efforts during the season. All we ask is that you visit our Concession stand. Proceeds from concessions help offset the cost of the league.
